NKS Solar One holds Stakeholders Meeting

Around 80 stakeholders from government agencies, host communities, and local partners participated in the first-ever NKS Solar One’s Stakeholders Meeting and Year-end Celebration in Lumban last December 12.

NKS Solar One, a joint venture of Blueleaf Energy and Nayon Kontrol Systems Group, is a 250MW floating solar project in Lake Caliraya and Lake Lumot, Laguna. Currently in the development stage, the project will cover the municipalities of Kalayaan, Lumban, and Cavinti. 

Atty. Rizel Barsabal of the Board of Investments gave an orientation on the Green Lane for Strategic Investments. NKS Solar One is one of the first projects to be awarded the said Green Lane Status, providing for fast-tracking and streamlining of its government permits.

Rafael Macabiog, Head of Projects, briefed the participants on the status of the project including the ongoing lakebed study.  

Mayor Arrantlee Arroyo said that “Cavinti welcomes development projects such as NKS Solar citing how it will usher in jobs and local economic development. We know that this will benefit not only Cavinti, but our neighboring towns Lumban, and Kalayaan.”

National Power Corporation representative Mr. Edmon Enriquez discussed the mechanics and role of the Project Monitoring Team (PMT). The establishment of the PMT is included as a condition of the project’s Land Use Permit and will ensure compliance to all environmental laws and regulations.

Barangay San Antonio councilor Marlo Tadique, urged “NKS Solar to include the youth sector in their social development programs.”

Community Relations Manager Jason Gavina reported the previous CSR accomplishments including adopted schools for its Bags to School Program, and the Livelihood Training for Camote Growers. “We are eager to work with our host communities, local government units, and NGOs, as partners in local development.”

Chris Chua, Country Head of Blueleaf Energy, “thanked all the partners for their continued support and assured that we will be working closely with them for the successful realization of the project.”
